CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK: The Match-up Breakdown

We're only two days away from The Big Game.  Ahead of this weeks match up, let's take a look position by position at who may have the edge on Championship Sunday and who may be hoisting El Grande Sandwich, when all is said and done:

QUARTERBACKS:
Hill :
Andrew Luck @ KC
The Cut @ PHI
A couple of weeks ago if you saw Luck vs KC, you'd have thought Luck was in trouble.  But KC has not been excelling against the forward pass over the last couple of weeks, and Luck has played well against some tough competition (SF, HOU, SEA).  Unfortunately for Hill, most of those were with Reggie Wayne.  Post-Wayne, Luck has had a stinker to two.  There's potential for that here, but I think he gets his usual 18-22 points.

I say Live By The Cut, Die By The Cut for a reason: turnovers are heavily penalized in Sandwich Fest, and Cutler can certainly turn it over.  But he also could throw for 400 yards and 3 TDs.  The weather will be warm and PHI D is not very good.  I think The Cut has a good day.

Mintz:
Andy "Red Tom Brady" Dalton vs MIN
Philip Rivers vs OAK
I'm not sure Mintz could've asked for better match ups for his quarterbacks.  Oakland and Minny have two of the worst defenses in the league and both Mintz's QBs are at home.  Dalton, like Cutler, is turnover prone at times, but he also has a lot of weapons, more than Cutler, and it's hard to see Minnesota being much of a problem for him.

San Diego still has a shot at the playoffs and get a division rival at home.  Also Oakland stinks.  Rivers should push 30 points here.

Advantage: Red Headed Stepchild

WIDE RECEIVERS
Hill:
Antonio Brown @ GB
Dez Bryant @ WSH
Corderelle Patterson @ CIN
The foundation of Hill's success all year has been the production from his WRs.  Antonio Brown and Dez Bryant are their teams #1 options and are dynamic talents.  They are just about match up proof but on Sunday, they won't have to be.  My only concern would be the weather in GB, where it's supposed to be 25 and snowing on Sunday, and Dez Bryant's tantrums.  But I still expect them both to have good days, Bryant more than Brown though.  And Patterson, with his kick return yards and getting more offensive snaps is a 15-point player.  He can break a big play any time he touches the ball.  He's Hills home run threat and if he connects, he will probably deliver a title to Hill.
Ummm Dez?  Dez?  Hey Dez!  Ummm game is still on....Dez....?

Mintz:
Keenan Allen vs OAK
Brandon Marshall @ PHI
Jared Boykin vs PIT
Emmanuel Sanders @ GB
Marshall and Allen will need to have big weeks for Mintz to compete with Hill's trio.  Fortunately for Mike, Cutler is back for the Bears and favors Marshall to Jeffrey.  So does Keenan Allen, who last time against OAK put up 6 for 115 and a TD.  Mike's top 2 is capable of matching Hills.  Mintz's WR3 is up in the air, but if Rodgers plays, Boykin is every bit the threat that Patterson is.

Hill's trio is more consistent and more likely to excel, but Mike's trio is nothing to write off.
Advantage: 'Came'-ron yo face!

RUNNING BACKS
Hill:
Matt Forte @ PHI
DeMarco Murray @ WSH
This is where Hill's advantage really shows, at running back.  Forte and Murray are 2nd and 7th respectively in RB fantasy points in Sandwich Fest and both figure to get a lot of work and a lot of production on Sunday.

Mintz:
Pierre Thomas @ CAR
Trent Richardson @ KC
Even with good match ups, Mintz would be lucky to match Hill's RB production, but with what their facing this week, I think its all but impossible.  Thomas is his best hope as he could get 4 or 5 check down catches, but that's kind of best case scenario.  RB2 is an even bigger issue.  Donald Brown will be limited so Mike will likely slot in TRich, who had a good week last week, but will need to find a gear he hasn't had at all this season to put up numbers against KC.  He also has Ellington, but that won't do much for him against Seattle.

Advantage: 'Came'-ron yo face!

TIGHT END
Jordan Came-ron yo face @ NYJ
Delanie Walker @ JAX
In his most important week, Came-ron yo face! will likely be without it's namesake as he suffered a concussion last week.  Hill will slot in Delanie Walker, who is a red zone target and is playing the Jags.  Hill's hoping for a TD since Walker avg only 3.8 catches per game.
yayyyyy, 3 catches a game!!!!!

Jason Witten @ WSH
Witten has been up and down, but we all know he's on Romo's radar all the time and is more likely to have a big game than Delanie Walker.  Mintz will need him too as well.
See? They love each other.
Advantage: Red Headed Stepchild

KICKER
Matt Prater @ Hou
The general rationale would be that Denver scores a lot of points, so having their kicker is a no-brainer.  And you'd be right.  Prater is 4th in the league in kicker fantasy points.  The only issue could be if Denver only scores touchdowns, which is possible.

Dan Bailey @ WSH
Bailey is 7th overall and has a good match up so he's no slouch either.

Advantage: 'Came'-ron yo face!

DEFENSE
Miami @ BUF
Hill is feeling pretty good about his defense with Buffalo starting Thad Lewis.  However, Buffalo, with Thad Lewis, already beat Miami once in Miami. If the game is close, I think Lewis will tuck and run before he throws a pick, hurting Hill's chance at some points.  However, if Miami gets a lead and forces Lewis to throw, some turnovers could be had.  I'm inclined to think this game stays close with Miami on the road and and average D.

Seattle vs ARI
Arizona can score points, but Seattle is home and can wrap up the #1 seed with a win, so I sense an Eli Manning-like performance from Carson Palmer.  The Cards will likely fall behind, forcing Palmer to throw and do so poorly.   I get the feeling Mintz will need a big score from his defense, and I think he could get it.  Palmer is willing to make some low percentage throws, and Seattle will convert those into turnovers.

Hey Palmer, let me see your Manning Face!

Advantage: Red Headed Stepchild

PREDICTION:
Interestingly, every one of Hill's starters is on the road.  That doesn't always affect a player's stats, but it certainly could.  If Mintz's defense can come up big, and he gets an off week from some of Hill's players, this game will be close.  But Hill's foundation of Bryant, Brown, Forte and Murray I think gives him a decided advantage.
